An exploration of menopause through printmaking, conversation and creative expression
This workshop invites women at every stage of menopause whether it's perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause, and those who will one day be there… to explore their experiences through relief printmaking in a supportive creative environment.
Participants will be guided through simple relief printing techniques while reflecting on themes such as transformation, metamorphosis and symbolism. A simple survey will be given at the beginning of the workshop to help open up the conversation. While optional to participate in the conversation participants will be encouraged to share stories, connect with others and express experiences around the theme.
No previous printmaking experience is needed. We will focus on process rather than artistic skill, allowing each participant to create meaningful prints that reflect their personal journey.

Local artist Alexis Chinon has spent the past several years opening conversations about menopause with friends and now hopes to bring that dialogue to more women through a creative workshop.
Believing that art can spark meaningful conversations, Alexis will share work from a series she began in 2024 that explores the physical and emotional journey of menopause. Her goal is to develop the project into a traveling exhibition in 2027.
Participants are invited to contribute one of their workshop prints to become part of the exhibition and help tell the collective story of this shared experience.

Anisfield-Wolf Awards Community Workshops
In Partnership with Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards, Lake Erie Ink, and the Cleveland Foundation
Future Ink Graphics (FIG) and Lake Erie Ink are collaborating on a series of
writing and visual art workshops inspired by the work and themes of Nell Irvin Painter, in connection with the Anisfield-Wolf Awards. Participants will engage in both creative writing and mixed media artmaking through three community-based workshop sessions.
Each workshop will combine guided writing activities and collaborative artmaking experiences, culminating in a public exhibition of participant work in FIG’s Community Gallery.
