ADA: My Mother the Architect
Ada Karmi Melamede selected works and sketches

Exhibition: Sept 01 – November 30, 2025

Location: Mandel JCC gallery
26001 S Woodland Rd, Beachwood, 44122
Ada Karmi Melamede is one of the most accomplished architects in the world, yet her work remains relatively unknown outside her home country of Israel. This exhibition coincides with the Cleveland premiere of the documentary ADA: MY MOTHER THE ARCHITECT at the Cleveland Jewish Film Festival on September 9, 2025. Directed by her daughter, filmmaker and former architect Yael Melamede, the film is a deeply moving portrait of an extraordinary woman. Ada is a true pioneer who, like many successful working mothers of her time, faced impossible choices. Despite personal sacrifices, her work gave physical form to some of Israel’s highest democratic ideals, most notably in the acclaimed Supreme Court building in Jerusalem, the Open University, Ben Gurion Airport, and numerous civic institutions across the country.

This exhibition is sponsored by RKLEVITZ ARCHITECTURE PLANNING GRAPHICS and the generous support of Richard and Madeline Levitz.

Special thanks to: Mandel JCC Arts and Culture, Yael Melamede / SALTY Features, Julieta Fedulova / takjotakjo graphic design, Anna Tararova / installation advice — for their generous support. Printing by Ruff Neon with Joel Frezel.

Between threads - Entre Hilos

Sept. 27 – October 09, 2025

This body of work is a celebration of color, heritage, and the living presence of Andina women. Through vibrant threads and fluid lines, I explore how color becomes both a language and a bridge—connecting memory, identity, and nature.

At the heart of this exploration is the Andina woman—too often erased, diminished, or stigmatized in Latin America, where Indigenous features are still treated as something to hide or overcome. My work resists that erasure. I turn toward her strength, her beauty, her undeniable presence, and honor her as a bearer of history, resilience, and grace.

Each piece is an act of affirmation: color as power, pattern as testimony, form as resistance. These works insist that Indigenous beauty is not just to be accepted, but to be celebrated, center stage, in full light and a thread that ties us back to our roots while pointing toward what we can become.

FIG Community Gallery Presents:
The Immortality of Grief
Opening Reception: Friday, August 29 | 5-7PM

Exhibition on Display: August 29 - Sep. 22, 2025
FIG Community Gallery 2937 W. 25th St. Cleveland, OH 44113

Exhibiting Artists: Mark Dawson, Reinaldo DeJesus, Justin Fraley, Meredith Hahn, Stephanie Kluk, Hannah Manocchio, Justin Michael Will, Jeannie Oakar, Meri Ruble, CJ Seabolt, Oliver St. Clair,  Mandy Schulien, Rebekah Anne Wilhelm

Grief is a shared human experience — yet profoundly individual. It arrives uninvited, reshaping us in ways both visible and invisible. The Immortality of Grief is an interactive art exhibition that invites viewers to step into the terrain of loss, memory, and healing. It recognizes grief not as a moment, but as a lifelong companion—one that evolves, echoes, and sometimes roars. This exhibition brings light to a subject often kept in the shadows. Through immersive installations, intimate storytelling, and participatory works, The Immortality of Grief creates space for vulnerability and connection. Each piece reflects a unique narrative, yet collectively they form a chorus of voices—some whispering, some crying out—honoring the diverse ways we hold and process sorrow.
The Immortality of Grief does not seek to resolve or fix grief. Instead, it offers a space where it can live—honestly, unapologetically, and, most of all, together.

This exhibition is generously sponsored by the MetroHealth Foundation.

Hathaway Brown School Showcase

Reception: May 02 / Friday / 5-7PM
Show runs: April 25 – May 02, 2025

As spring unfolds, so too does a season of transition—especially for our HB seniors, who stand at the threshold of their next chapter. I am thrilled to announce the upcoming Senior Art Exhibit, hosted at Future Ink Graphics on the evening of May 2nd. We invite you to join us in celebrating the creativity, dedication, and artistic voices of our graduating seniors.

Titled Bitter; Sweet (Symphony), this exhibition reflects the rise and fall of emotion that defines this pivotal moment in our students’ lives. Much like a symphony, their journey has been composed of crescendos of joy, pauses of reflection, and moments of bittersweet farewell. Through their work, they offer a visual tribute to their experiences, honoring the complexity of endings that lead to new beginnings.

Her recent work is inspired by a deep spiritual connection to nature and her journey into motherhood. Cecilia’s work, created during her residency, is featured in this year’s Women Who Print Exhibition.

Cecilia's residency spanned four months, and during that time she learned to screen print with artist and owner of snakes + acey’s, Hannah Manocchio.

FIG presents: Group Exhibition
Divinity Unfiltered

Gabrielle Holt
Vanessa Eryn
Gabrielle Rossetti

Each artist represents a distinct approach to channeling divinity or exploring sacredness in their work, using their mediums to disrupt traditional narratives about gender, spirituality, and the divine. Taken together, Divinity Unfiltered in the context of these three artists suggests a fearless approach to spirituality and identity, one that is raw, authentic, and unmediated by traditional expectations. These women, through their work, reject the sanitized or idealized depictions of the divine, instead presenting visions that are complex, imperfect, and deeply personal. Their art invites viewers into a space where the sacred is explored in all its messiness and beauty.

Show runs: May 24 – 31, 2024

"Bitter; Sweet" is a thought-provoking exploration encapsulating the essence of the contradiction inherent in life's experiences. The artists in this exhibit are graduating students from Hathaway Brown School, each culminating their journey in this showcase. Here they delve in exploring the fusion of bitter and sweet moments that shape their creative narratives.

Just as HB's motto, "Non-Scholae Sed Vitae Discimus—We Learn Not for School, But for Life," reverberates with significance, "Bitter; Sweet" resonates with each student's creative output. Within this exhibition, we witness the convergence of individual ideations, each a poignant reflection of personal growth and introspection.

Through diverse mediums such as painting, collage, print, ceramics, and textiles, students intertwine the fabric of coming-of-age narratives. Each brushstroke, each layer, carries the weight of transition as they prepare to embark on their collegiate endeavors, imbuing their creations with profound meaning and personal significance.

"Bitter; Sweet" line-up of students, HB 2024:
Layah Carpenter, Campbell Kahn, Ella Rosenberg, Sydney Steffee, Colette Urban, Conzie Aris, Allie Beros, Audrey Handel, Meredith Hays, Sidonie LaBenne, Emily Levanduski, Marin Mondora, Simon Skinner, Olivia Thorton, Genevieve Comar, Cate Cowger-Wesley, Alexis Everett, Anna Ha, Kate Klein, Tori Margulies, Paige Ryan

I AM
an empowering workshop exploring the two most powerful words you can speak…

Gina created the I AM workshops to combat the bullying culture in children. If they affirm who they are at a young age to others, they may find allies and be grounded enough to fight that energy.

WHAT:
Think it. Write it. Speak it.

EVERYONE will express themselves by making art during the process. Plan to ground your energy and release your creative self. Group conversation will lead from there.

FOR WHOM:
The workshop is for all ages with a twist. For teens and adults, Gina will guide you through an identity-building meditation. Children in K-5th grades will use positive words that describe themselves.

This workshop funded in 2023 by The Cleveland Foundation Equity in the Arts Fund.

"It's always been my belief that women have a great deal of energy and power when they come together. Perhaps that's why I enjoy working with women so much and hope to continue doing so for many years to come. In Jenice's words, "Today was an amazing display of women supporting each other." For sure, it was a great event!

Women's International today would not have been a success without all the volunteers,
participants and Margie Colon for showing us her Salsa moves. It was an honor for the City Council to recognize Patty Munoz de Esparza and Marielee Santiago Rodríguez on Women's Day for organizing events and years of working to improve women's health."
